I had a terrible experience with the ER - the check-in staff is condescending and uncaring, and the wait (nearly five hours) was absurd. A few people who had bleeding wounds actually gave up and left because the staff hadn't seen them in four hours. That being said, I had to have surgery there the following week and I couldn't have been happier. This was far and away the best surgical care I have ever had. They had someone waiting with my mom and giving her updates, the nurses and doctors working with me were top notch and the follow up care was incredible. If you need surgery, definitely go to NMH but if it's late at night and you need to go to an ER, go somewhere else.
