This place is the biggest most deceitful hospital I've ever been to.
I went to the ER with a sour stomach was treated by a Doctor who eyes were bloodshot red and in my opinion should not have been on duty.
I told them I had no insurance and not to run up any unnecessary test.
Well, That was the green light for them to run every test they could come up with.
And on the way out the ER Nurse finally gave me 2 pills for my stomach and 2 prescriptions for the same drugs on my way out of the ER.
I got the bill and the 2 pills they gave me out the door $168.00, To fill both prescriptions they gave me $8.00.
After I told them I had no insurance or a job at that time you would think they would just give me the prescriptions and not run up my bill.
And only looked at my stomach , no x-ray or even felt my stomach.
They did run a EKG and a bunch of unnecessary tests. ( as stated to me by my own Doctor ).
I've asked to talk to the Hospital Administrator about this bill and have not been allowed too.
I've been directed to accounting and they(Julie and Johnathan) refused to put me in contact with the Hospital Administrator.
Then I was directed to a patient advocate Karen T, who also refused to put me in contact Hospital Administrator and has quit returning my phone calls.
Even the Head Nun in mission services refused to put me in contact Hospital Administrator.
I'm going to file a case in small claims court for the entire bill (about $1200 total) and still try to make contact with the Hospital Administrator to find a resolution in this matter.
If you have to go to a Hospital in the Athens GA area STAY AWAY FROM ST MARY'S HOSPITAL.
Especially if you have no insurance, they will run up your bill.
Maybe the health Insurance companies need to keep a close eye on there bills from St. Mary's so they can catch possible overcharges or unnecessary tests.

When my son was ill we took him to Saint Mary's and the staff was so kind and understanding. They knew how upset and nervous I was as a parent and they went above and beyond to care for him and give me peace of mind.
